The Phase One Certificate is a sign of competency as a beginner in training. At Sage Arts Unlimited, this requires students to be competent in the Phase One material as designed by the Minnesota Kali Group, to have attended a minimum of 100 class hours, averaging 2-4 class hours each week. We also require students to have a cursory introduction to the Healing Arts so that they better appreciate the need to take care of their bodies and their training partners.

In order to prepare students for the Phase Two level of training, they will be exposed to some of the drills and exercises common to that level of training. Students must also have a basic awareness of the Ground Fight and grappling. The Phase One certificate denotes that a student has a thorough and well rounded foundation in the Martial Arts.
