The Phase Program - Our Curriculum
Our
Phase Program follows that used at the Minnesota
Kali Group, designed by Sifu
Rick Faye. It is a way of organizing the curriculum and progression
of skills and information learned in the Martial Arts we offer.
Though it does not represent a rank, the particular phase that a
student is working on in any given skill area can denote their experience
level in that area.
Students
will often be training skills in various phase levels simultaneously.
The following list will give a brief overview of he training focus
for each Phase of development:
Phase I: Base Curriculum Concepts
In
this Phase of training, we will begin to work on your Body Mechanics,
Endurance, Sensitivity, Coordination and Technical Base.
Phase II: Sensitivity Training
Phase
2 training will help you feel pressure and respond to your opponent's
mistakes without thinking. Hand and Foot Trapping, Limb Destructions
and Wrenches will all be taught using drills from Kali, Wing Chun
and Silat.
Phase III: Integrate the Arts
At
this point you will begin to integrate the arts we teach. As your
skills come together to form a complete martial spectrum, you will
improve your Sense of Distance, Timing, Rhythm and Flow.
Phase IV: Mental & Physical Changes
In
this phase your body will be adapting to the changes required by
these arts. Your Musculature, Body Motion and General Abilities
will be visibly improved.
Phase V: Finding your own Direction
In
this phase you will be encouraged to follow your personal interests
and develop in a specific area of the art.
Phase VI: Positive use of the Art
This
is the most rewarding phase of our system. You will be encouraged
to find an outlet where you can use this art to help people in some
way.
