Man, this has been an expensive year. I have cut way back on the number of competitions that I'm planning to enter this year, but even still, I can use some support. So, friends, family, I am asking for your donations to help with expenses related to these events.
Just to give you an idea, each event costs anywhere from $30-$45 to enter, plus hundreds in gas and driving time for repeated trips, food while on the road, little things like sunscreen and bug spray and bottled water that will nickel and dime you, plus bigger things, like needing a front end alignment and new tires for my truck. Then there are supplies - paint, panels, brushes, medium, primer, frames, labels, backing tape, shipping costs, etc. It adds up quickly.
I know some of you have been thinking about purchasing some of my work, which would really help out, but in the mean time, I'd like to offer an alternative. If you like my paintings, and want to see more of my work, please consider making a donation. $10 or $25 here and there would go a long way towards making this possible.
And lest you think I'm asking for a handout, I will recognize each of you on my blog as a patron sponsor, and those who donate $25 or more will receive your choice of either a framed original 5" x 7" painting later this year or an equivalent, dollar for dollar discount on the purchase of any of my paintings in the future. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing that whatever awards or sales I receive this year, you helped to make that possible.
Like I said, a little bit goes a long way. My goal is to raise $2000 by the end of August. - June 28, 2011 - Entry into the Bold Brush bi-monthly online painting contest - $14/entry
- June 15-20, 2011 - Entry into Cedarburg's Plein Air Competition (largest in WI) - $50
- July 7-14, 2011 - Wauwatosa Plein Air Affair - $30
- July 23, 2011 - Dockside Quick Paint in Door County, WI - $40
- August 2011 - Entry into Plein Air Magazine's bi-monthly online contest - $30/entry
- August 2011 - Entry into the Bold Brush bi-monthly online painting contest - $14/entry
- August 4-6, 2011 - Plein Air Paint-out in Neenah, WI - $30
- October 1-8, 2011 - Paint the Town En Plein Air - Plymouth, WI - $35
- October 2011 - Entry into Plein Air Magazine's bi-monthly online contest - $30
- October 2011 - Entry into the Bold Brush bi-monthly online painting contest - $14/entry
For the online events, the cost is straight forward, but for the local events, the expenses of driving and supplies really add up fast. Anyone who has been following my blog can see that my work has been getting stronger, and I know that it is vital that I continue to get out there to have my work seen as often as possible. Any support would be greatly appreciated.
A few other ways you can help:
- Tell your friends about my artwork. You can send them the link to this blog, or this link to my gallery of available online prints.
- Purchase a painting or a framed print. You can find most of my available work here. You can find prints of all of my work at the link above.
- Donate old frames. If you have frames that are sitting around that aren't too beat up, rather than throwing them away, contact me. I do a lot of refurbishing of old frames for use in competitions and shows. If it's gold or black, dark brown, or has ornate carvings, I'd be interested in seeing it.
