Youth
Martial Arts Program
Meets: Mon, Wed. 6:15 - 7 PM
Instructor: Anthony Sell
Overview
Our
Youth Martial Arts Program is open to students ages 6-12. We usually
begin new students with two Private Sessions
to give them the basic techniques and concepts required to participate
with an established group of students.
These
lessons include etiquette, basic kicks and punches, proper breathing,
and a thorough warm-up and stretching period. During these lessons,
the instructor is afforded the opportunity to evaluate the student's
present level of experience and physical capability. This also allows
the instructor to begin establishing a rapport with the student,
and prepare them for training in a group environment.
Attention
Span
One
of the first things parents notice about their children after starting
lessons is the increased attention span that they demonstrate as
a result of disciplined practice. Our students tend to be more enthusiastic
about learning in general which often translates to better grades
in school. We also have experience working with students who have
ADD/HD, speech impediments, vision impairments, and other learning
disabilities.
Self-Esteem
By
developing their bodies, and pushing themselves to achieve physical
goals, our students learn the value of hard work and determination,
and as a result exhibit improved self-esteem and confidence.

Physical
Conditioning
As
a result of the exercises performed in Martial Arts practice, students
will have improved flexibility and balance, greater cardiovascular
fitness, increased strength and stamina, and a passion for working
out. Healthy kids become healthy adults, and the habits they establish
today will affect the rest of their lives.
Practical Self Defense
Our
Youth Marital Arts program incorporates a blend of Martial Arts
that is designed to give children a well rounded set of skills and
experiences that may save their life in a physical confrontation.
Students
will learn not only the physical side of Martial Arts, but also
how to use their heads in order to get help and evade abduction
or assault. We discuss dealing with bullies, adult assailants, the
responsibilities of being a Martial Artist and the right and wrong
time to use Martial Arts.
