Each year we receive dozens and
dozens of responses from current and former students, clients and visitors
to the site. This list showcases the best responses. We would love to
hear from you.
What our Students have to say...
It
has been nearly seven years and going with my own school, and that
time has come and gone in what seems like the blink of an eye. At
times teaching is difficult and I am uncertain of my efforts. But
every now and then, someone decides to share with me how the school
and our classes have benefited their lives, and for that I am grateful.
Here
are what some of our students and clients have to say about our
school and their training experiences, our philosophy and our website:

I
loved it [Self-Defense Seminar at the State
Building on Friday June 24, 2005] and would hope that it
could be integrated into a regular program at the Milwaukee Trial
Office.

It

was very cool! [Mr. Sell] was nice and patient, the skills were
fun and I think he should come back for more!

I
hope you can schedule more of the seminars. It [Self-Defense Seminar

I
thought the seminar [Self-Defense Seminar at the State Building
on Friday June 24, 2005] was very useful and the presentation was
both informative and enjoyable. It was a worth while training session.
Good job. It’s something to consider.

[Self-Defense
Seminar at the State Building on Friday June 24, 2005] Very informative,
well-directed. The basic skills were presented well. The instructor
was able to clearly explain and demonstrate the techniques, to a
very diverse class.
- J.W.

I
thoroughly enjoyed the Martial Art Defense seminar [Self-Defense
Seminar at the State Building on Friday June 24, 2005]. It was well
presented, exciting and very interesting. I would love the opportunity
to participate again.

Hey
Tony, It's ALWAYS a learning experience when I step into your studio.
I have got to find a way of manipulating my schedule so I can get
in there on a regular basis. I cannot afford to keep sacrificing
quality for the sake of convenience.
- V.J.
May-15-2005
"I
was very fortunate to be able to participate in a two-hour, seven
week workshop on Capoeira presented at Sage Martial Arts. Regi is
a very knowledgable and passionate instructor. His patience, caring
and humor made it a very enjoyable experience."

Tony
- Great website. I love to read and the number and quality of articles
is great. The information is useful in so many ways and an excellent
resource, thanks. My best to you and Sage Martial Arts.

Anthony
-- I truly enjoyed the seminar and am excited to spend some time
with [Name Withheld] doing some of the things we learned. It's always
fun to have someone to partner with!
Your
seminar gave me a clear understanding of the value of yoga - it
was a bit inspiring, actually! I plan on sharing some of my learnings
with my doctor that practices natural medicine. I anticipate he'll
be very supportive and encourage me to continue learning more. I'll
come again when I'm in town and don't have dance lessons! =) Best
Regards,

Tony,
Just wanted to drop you an email to say hi and that the website,
and apparently the school look fantastic! I got the most recent
newsletter as well as an email about two months ago from Sage. I
saw Steve Danbeck's picture under the "past instructor"
heading on the website. Is that a picture of the old place on Grennfield
on there? Good memories from that place... Anyway, perhaps one of
these days when my schedule isn't out of control, I can think about
picking up my sticks again...I always had fun with those..Also,
I had to order a shirt from the website. Those
are just way too cool! Awesome job on everything.

Hi
Anthony, Long time since I contacted you last. Anyway, great job
on your web design and the one you did for WEKAF USA. I have viewed
hundreds of sites and both are clean and easy to navigate... it
really is quite informative. Hopefully they can add bios of the
principles down the road and a gallery of action shots. Many of
them are talented people with great stories of how they got to this
point that deserve to be heard. Anyway, congratulations and I have
bookmarked both places as reference points both now and in the future.
Thanks again for a great job and of course, Happy New Year to you
and yours, and all my best wishes for continued happiness and success
during 2005.

have enjoyed your website (very well done and informative).

I'm
not very physically fit, so I've always thought I wasn't capable
of doing Martial Arts or Yoga. But Tony showed me that it really
is all in the mind. He showed that if you focus on one thing, almost
anything is possible, no matter how lopsided and distorded you are.
Thanks and come back to King soon!!!

When
Mr. Sell came to our theatre class and showed us the basics of Martial
Arts, and a few poses of Yoga I was seriously impressed. We, as
a class learned to shed some of our inhibitions, and work for a
common goal. I wish that we had more time, because what I was beginning
to learn is just the tip of a vast iceberg of skill to be acquired.
Thanks Mr. Sell!

Tony,
It's been 11 months since I joined your school and it has been a
fabulous experience for me. I think we have the best instructors
when it comes to all facets of the Martial Arts. By the way, I have
lost 22lbs since joining!
- T.H.
Oct-16-2004
I
love the kids classes!!!! They are fun and I look forward to them
each week. The classes help me to build my confidence in myself,
and the people at the school are like a family to me. I'm looking
forward to being able to the adult classes too. Thanks for helping
me to believe in myself, and all of the fun.
- S. F.
Oct-16-2004
As
a thirteen year old who used to be picked on in school, these classes
have made a world of difference by both teaching me how to defend
myself if I need to and by boosting my confidence. I have trained
at a different school before coming to Sage Arts and I have to say,
no other school around will give you the kind of training and individual
attention that you can get at Sage Arts.
- M.F.
Oct-15-2004
I
would like to say thank you for creating and maintaining such a
good place to train...I am very much interested in training in the
other arts you provide as well [as the Capoeira].
- A.H.

As
a divorced, single female, in her late 20's ... I had to find ways
to feel comfortable being alone again. Being able to protect myself
became important to me ... while traveling alone, walking alone,
or anywhere. For years, I told Tony I was going to start training.
It became time to start, and I'm so glad I did. The classes give
me an outlet to deal with my aggressions, help my physical attributes,
and leave me more confident when I am alone. I feel energetic after
every class, and everyone is very nice to work with. Thanks guys.
- A.O.
Oct-1-2004
OUTSTANDING
CLASS!!!!! My...frustration of too many schools existing here that
are more commercial than practical - the instructor seems to possess
the knowledge (he probably needs to get a dose of your class as
well!), the classes just don't reflect it.
Your
class was one of the liveliest I've experience in awhile. The drills
were things that I've begged for at the other school, only to fall
on deaf ears. I realize patience is a virtue, but too much can translate
into laziness, which turns into bad habits (like my stances). It's
frightening Tony because some of the senior students over there
think that they're actually on to something. They don't even train
for multiple blows, one punch at a time, and your partner stands
there helplessly doing nothing, no parries. When I inquire, I'm
frowned upon and discouraged. I even took [name withheld] there
as an impartial observer, just to get his opinion on the class,
and he couldn't believe the stiff, robotic Art being offered (A
CLASSICAL MESS).
I
don't mean to be disrespectful or too judgmental of him, but your
class was a breath of fresh air, one that was badly needed. I'm
merely seeking to stretch the boundaries of my potential and grasps
as much knowledge and wisdom of the Arts as possible. I'm addicted;
I can only imagine true Kali / Wing Chung / Boxing combined. That's
a real high! Thanks for the journey and I'll see ya soon, maybe
with [name withheld] (He was impressed with your demo, and wants
to cross train with you as well).
- V.J.
Sep-30-2004
Thanks
for your class on Wednesday night. I had a lot of fun and learned
as well. I will try to make it to your next few Wednesday night
classes as well. Talk to you then.

Long
time no see. I've been busy at home and teaching EMS at [school
name withheld]. I still like to train and have fun
training. I see you now have morning classes twice a week. That
works great with my work and family schedule. I'm free this Friday.

Hello,
Tony! First of all, thank you for your healing hands tonight, my
knee feels better now ;-) I am always interested in learning any
healing/massage stuff, but your warning came late - I am out of
town from this Thursday night until Monday ;-(... but, please, if
you do it again, let me know, I would come. Have a great weekend,
good seminar and THANK you!

Hi
Tony - I am regularly checking out the site, its a great
resource. Because my dedication is to Capoeira it is wonderful and
very helpful to read the articles on the variety of art forms. It
helps challenge and flavor my training thoughts and actions. My
best wishes to you for continued success.

I
will be in 2 to 3 times a month on Saturdays starting the weekend
after the 3rd. Due to my scheduling this makes it very difficult
to attend any other classes. I will Paypal you in FEB or March at
25 credits which ever works for you. Thanks so much and for the
last 11 years you are still the best instructor. Merry Christmas
and Happy New Years.

students and instructors bring to the school, the large library

Anthony,
I was browsing the internet and came across your site. After some
more browsing through your site Im convinced that your school
has potential. I've been learning martial arts, off and on, from
my uncles since age 13 and I'm currently 22. I'm a student at [college
name withheld] and have recently taught two martial art classes
for intramural. I plan to teach again with a revised version and
was wondering if I could get some insight in the martial arts on
what to teach and what not to teach. Since you have much experience
with teaching I was wondering if you could inform me on the pros
and cons of outcomes.
I
was also hoping that I could stop in sometime to get a tour and
then maybe exchange information with you and your instructors on
the different styles. I believe that all styles share fundamental
concepts and if I could find out what these concepts were
than I could make improvements or shortcuts to learning the martial
arts. Styles are just the different means of carrying out one specific
purpose. In the mean time I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.
- P.H.
Nov-5-2003
This
is definitely the place to train!

Hi
Tony, How are you doing? I'd be interested in attending private
lessons. I do know some people that may be interested in your school
for lessons. I really enjoy taking classes at your school. Your
attitude and teaching is outstanding. Paul has also been an excellent
instructor. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care.
- B.S.

Tony!!!
How the heck are you?!?! I have not talked with you in so
long, I trust that all is well. I wanted to send you an email due
to the fact that my contact information has changed several times
and I was waiting until things were stable again. I was hoping to
stop by and see the new school. I'm even contemplating attending
again. Whoa! No way, you say. :)
- R.M.

I
used to train and spar w/ you a long time ago. My name was On your
page, I appreciated that. [Name Withheld] had said you left
his school, didn't really say where you went so I looked. Cool name
for the school too. Better web page than his :)

I've
got to thank you. Since starting your classes a month ago, I've
already lost 10 lbs. I realized that I could slip out of my jeans
without unbuttoning them.

Jun-15-2002
Well,
I'm down to 250 lbs. That's over 100 pounds in the last nine months.

his philosophy, techniques, and opinions have broadened my knowledge
to a new level. Thank You.

Feb-4-2002
I
just checked out your web page. The About
us section was incredible - especially the first few paragraphs.
Rarely have I seen the truth about that subject delivered so bluntly
yet so tactfully. It definitely hit home with me.

Your
website looks great, its got alot of interesting information.

Jan-1-2002
I
drove by the old place and saw that it was closed and decided to
check out the website to see what was going on. After seeing the
new website (awesome design by the way) and new school it really
got me motivated to train again.
- B.K.
Oct-31-2001
The
site looks really nice. Layout and graphics-wise it is one of the
best I've seen (I've been to about 50 or so sites over the past
few years).
- J.L.
Sep-21-2001
Mr.
Sell: Your new site is very nice -- easier to navigate than the
old one and better organized. Of course, there's a lot more "substance,"
as well. The section for UWM students was particularly useful to
me, of course. Congratulations!
- L.H.

Hi
Tony. Got your mailing the other day and I am glad to see that your
school appears to be doing well. I always enjoyed your instruction
and I was disappointed when you left. I don't know all the circumstances
and that is probably best. Keep us up to date and best of luck!
- K.S.
Jun-19-2001
Tony,
Finally got a chance to check out your new web site. It's great!!
You're going to have fencing at the school? Please let me know when
the class starts! I've always been interested and would love to
try it! Keep me informed.

Jan-21-2001
Hello,
I'm sorry I didn't write this sooner. I'd like to say that I learned
a lot in Tae Kwon-do last semester and I'm glad I could. I think
that my brother has been inspired, too. This semester he will be
taking Tae Kwon-do at his school.
I
had a vision-- of a T K-d class at UWM that stood up to any other
class. It's a really valuable subject. I could learn many things
about discipline, right conduct, relationships, balance, creative
approaches, self-understanding, etc., that I think book knowledge
fails to teach by itself. It seems that if lessons of the philosophy/principles,
history, and present world-wide status of this art were Combined
with the physical practice, the two would reinforce and strengthen
each other.
When
you explained things to me-- talking and on the board, it became
very clear to me what I was doing and what to focus on. I have read
that TKD is a "mind and body practice." It would be nice
if this was an option as a Core Curriculum class. And it would be
nice if the class period was longer, or more days, maybe the school
could provide sparring gear and equipment.
I
won't be taking it again this semester. It doesn't fit well in my
schedule, but I hope to eventually continue. Actually, I think I'm
going to study in Japan in the fall and I hope I can take a martial
arts class there.
Thank
you! And thank you for the extra help. Have a great semester.
